Editing Compressed High‐resolution Voxel Scenes with Attributes

نویسندگان

چکیده

Sparse Voxel Directed Acyclic Graphs (SVDAGs) are an efficient solution for storing high-resolution voxel geometry. Recently, algorithms the interactive modification of SVDAGs have been proposed that maintain compressed geometric representation. Nevertheless, attributes, such as colours, require uncompressed storage, which can result in high memory usage over course application. The reason is cost existing attribute-compression schemes remain unfit applications. In this paper, we introduce two attribute compression methods (lossless and lossy), enable editing scenes including attributes.

Transient Attributes or High-Level Understanding and Editing of Outdoor Scenes

We live in a dynamic visual world where the appearance of scenes changes dramatically from hour to hour or season to season. In this work we study “transient scene attributes” – high level properties which affect scene appearance, such as “snow”, “autumn”, “dusk”, “fog”. We define 40 transient attributes and use crowdsourcing to annotate thousands of images from 101 webcams. We use this “transi...

Geometry and Attribute Compression for Voxel Scenes

Voxel-based approaches are today’s standard to encode volume data. Recently, directed acyclic graphs (DAGs) were successfully used for compressing sparse voxel scenes as well, but they are restricted to a single bit of (geometry) information per voxel. We present a method to compress arbitrary data, such as colors, normals, or reflectance information. By decoupling geometry and voxel data via a...

Compressed Voxel-Based Mapping Using Unsupervised Learning

In order to deal with the scaling problem of volumetric map representations we propose spatially local methods for high-ratio compression of 3D maps, represented as truncated signed distance fields. We show that these compressed maps can be used as meaningful descriptors for selective decompression in scenarios relevant to robotic applications. As compression methods, we compare using PCA-deriv...

Editing Real World Scenes: Augmented Reality with Image-based Rendering

We present a method that using only an uncalibrated camera allows the capture of object geometry and appearance, and then at a later stage registration and AR overlay into a new scene. Using only image information first a coarse object geometry is obtained using structure-from-motion, then a dynamic, view dependent texture is estimated to account for the differences between the reprojected coar...
